Technical Theater Experience
Examples of my set and costume pieces.
Addams Family
As a set carpenter, I am currently helping to construct the set to the specifications of the Scenic Designer. Using various tools and following the blueprints, I am assisting the Tech I, II, and III classes in building the set for the show.
Roald Dahl's Matilda
The Musical
I was supervisor of the tech crew and a primary set carpenter in addition to Head Lighting Designer.
The 39 Steps
As a student in the Tech III class, I was given the task of designing and building a knife prop and an airplane nose cone with propeller.
Barefoot In the Park
As a student in the Tech I class, part of my time was spent in the costume shop as well as the scenic shop. I was tasked with following a sewing pattern to create a floral broach.
I was also tasked with helping build and install the scenic elements of the show.
Spring Awakening
As part of the Tech I class, I was tasked with assisting my teacher and technical director with the building and installation of the rotating platform as well as painting the scenic elements.
Under Sea Clock: Technical Theater
Class Project
As part of my Visual Creativity class, I chose to turn this clock into an “underwater artifact” that looked like it had been recovered from the Titanic wreck.
My process included adding layers of spray foam, hot glue, pine cones, and seashells. I then spray-painted it all black for a base coat to prep for dry brushing, so I could give it the color I wanted. To finish it all off, I coated the entire piece with a clear coat of varnish to keep everything protected and covered!
FUN FACT: My Teacher had the clock featured in an escape room where it was admired and requested to be brought to an art auction. I declined the offer to sell the piece, as I wanted to keep it.
